Job Title: Continuous Improvement EngineerLocation: Saltillo, Coahuila, MexicoJob Type: Full-timeCompany: Julian Electric de MexicoOverviewThe Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing improvements that increase safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance across manufacturing operations.This role works directly on the production floor, using Lean Manufacturing, industrial engineering, data analysis, and structured problem‐solving tools to eliminate waste, improve process flow, and create sustainable operating standards.Reporting ToEngineering Manager.Key ResponsibilitiesContinuous Improvement Strategy and Project ExecutionIdentify and prioritize improvement opportunities based on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance.Develop project charters with clear scope, baseline, targets, timing, responsible parties, and expected financial impact.Lead improvement projects from analysis through implementation, validation, standardization, and sustained follow‐up.Maintain an active continuous improvement project pipeline aligned with plant priorities and customer requirements.Lean Manufacturing and Waste EliminationApply Lean Manufacturing principles to identify and eliminate waiting, motion, transportation, overprocessing, defects, inventory, and other waste.Conduct value stream mapping and process flow analysis to improve material movement, information flow, and production lead time.Plan and facilitate Kaizen events, 5S activities, visual management, and workplace organization initiatives.Develop practical countermeasures that simplify work, improve flow, and strengthen process stability.Time Studies, Standard Work, and Line BalancingPerform time and motion studies to establish accurate cycle times, standard labor requirements, and production capacity.Create and maintain standard work documents, operator balance charts, Yamazumi charts, and standardized work combination tables.Balance production lines according to takt time, product mix, operator capability, equipment constraints, and customer demand.Validate implemented methods on the production floor and update standards when process conditions change.Data Analysis and Performance MeasurementCollect and analyze production data to identify performance gaps, trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.Develop dashboards and visual controls for productivity, efficiency, throughput, downtime, scrap, labor utilization, and OEE.Establish accurate project baselines and verify results using objective pre‐ and post‐implementation data.Ensure reported savings and productivity gains are measurable, traceable,



and sustained over time.Problem Solving and Root Cause AnalysisFacilitate structured problem solving using tools such as 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, Pareto analysis, A3, and DMAIC.Work with cross‐functional teams to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.Monitor countermeasures after implementation and adjust actions when the expected results are not achieved.Productivity and Labor EfficiencyAnalyze labor utilization, staffing, work content, and operator movement to improve productivity and reduce non‐value‐added time.Support production teams in meeting hourly output, efficiency, and schedule attainment targets.Recommend improvements to layouts, workstations, material presentation, tooling, fixtures, and operator methods.Quality and Scrap ReductionPartner with Quality, Production, and Engineering to reduce defects, rework, scrap, and customer complaints.Use process data and direct observation to identify variation and implement mistake‐proofing solutions.Ensure improvement activities are aligned with control plans, PFMEAs, work instructions, and customer‐specific requirements.Kaizen and Change ManagementFacilitate cross‐functional improvement workshops and ensure actions are assigned, completed, and verified.Engage supervisors, team leaders, and operators in developing solutions to improve ownership and sustainability.Manage resistance to change by communicating the purpose, expected benefits, and responsibilities associated with each improvement.Training and Continuous Improvement CultureTrain employees on Lean Manufacturing, problem‐solving, standard work, 5S, waste identification, and improvement tools.Coach project owners and frontline leaders in using data and structured methods to solve operational problems.Promote a culture in which employees identify opportunities, raise concerns early, and participate in sustainable improvements.Project Management and Savings ValidationManage project schedules, action plans, resources, risks, documentation, and implementation status.Coordinate with Finance and plant leadership to validate labor, material, scrap, and operating cost savings.Provide regular progress reports to management, including results achieved, open risks, required support, and next actions.QualificationsBachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering,



mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.Minimum of 3 years of experience in continuous improvement, industrial engineering, process engineering, or manufacturing operations.Experience in the automotive, wire harness, battery cable, or high‐mix manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.Demonstrated experience leading Lean Manufacturing, productivity, line balancing, or cost reduction projects.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI, Minitab, ERP systems, or similar analytical tools is preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred; Black Belt certification is a plus.Hard SkillsLean Manufacturing: proficiency in waste elimination, value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, visual management, and standard work.Industrial Engineering: ability to perform time studies, capacity analysis, labor calculations, line balancing, and layout optimization.Data Analysis: strong ability to analyze production data, establish baselines, identify trends, and validate measurable results.Problem Solving: proficiency with 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, Pareto analysis, A3, DMAIC, and root cause verification.Project Management: ability to define scope, timing, resources, risks, deliverables, and financial impact for improvement projects.Quality Systems: working knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, SPC, IATF *****, and process audit requirements.Digital Tools: proficiency with Excel and experience using Power BI, Minitab, CAD, or process simulation software.Financial Validation: ability to calculate and document labor, material, scrap, productivity, and operating cost savings.Soft SkillsAnalytical Thinking: ability to convert complex operational data into practical conclusions and clear actions.Floor Presence: a hands‐on approach and willingness to observe vigente conditions directly with operators and production leaders.Communication: strong ability to explain problems, recommendations, and results to employees, peers, and management.Collaboration: capacity to work effectively with Production, Quality, Engineering, Materials, Maintenance, HR, and Finance.Influence and Change Management: ability to gain support, address resistance, and guide teams through process changes.Execution and Follow‐Up: discipline to convert analysis into actions and verify that improvements remain effective.Adaptability: willingness to adjust priorities and methods in a fast‐changing, high‐mix manufacturing environment.Ownership: a results‐oriented mindset with accountability for project timing, accuracy, savings, and sustainability.
