What you will be doing
- Serve as the subject matter expert for US & Canada leave programs, including FMLA, state leave laws such as CA & MN PFL, ADA, and other company-specific policies.
- Track leave requests, approvals, extensions, intermittent leave use, and return-to-work dates. Maintains accurate records in HR systems and uses reporting tools effectively.
- Coordinate required notices, certifications, forms, and deadlines to meet federal, state, and internal requirements for leave reporting, payment, and workers compensation program.
- Manages leave cases from intake through return-to-work with consistency, timeliness, and attention to detail.
- Support the interactive process for accommodation-related leave cases and transition employees back to work when appropriate.
- Escalate complex, disputed, or high-risk cases and partner with legal, benefits, and employee relations teams as needed.
- Provides responsive, supportive, and empathetic service to employees and managers throughout the leave process.
- Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state, and company leave laws and applies them accurately to employee cases.
- Identifies opportunities to improve leave workflows, documentation, communication, and efficiency.
What You Likely Bring
- 2+ years applicable experience and demonstrated success/knowledge
- Knowledge of employee benefits programs including medical, dental, and 401(k) plans in addition to absence management programs and policies.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Responds in a timely manner to requests for service and assistance.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees, managers, HR partners, payroll,
and external vendors.
- Handles sensitive medical and personal information appropriately and maintains strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines.
