The Bilingual Training and Development Specialist supports the workforce by developing and delivering training programs in both English and Spanish (or other applicable languages) focused on agricultural operations, safety, compliance, and job skills.
This role ensures seasonal and full-time workers are equipped with the knowledge to perform tasks effectively, safely, and in compliance with regulations.
**Position Responsibilities**
- Translate training materials, SOPs, safety manuals, and other documents to ensure full understanding across language groups.
- Position Experience Vetting (as a contract employee in Mexico) per the Buy Sod H2A Vetting Form.
- Recruitment recommendations (as a contract employee in Mexico).
- Assist with orientation and onboarding of H2A Workers.
- Assist with Driver License/Social Security Renewals/Applications.
- Bring forward coaching and corrective actions (to location managers) as they arise.
- Act as backup to Recruitment and Employment Manager with translation for other H2As
- Collaborate with supervisors to assess training needs and close performance gaps.
- Design and conduct job-specific training sessions for farm, field, and production workers in English and Spanish.
- Deliver training on proper equipment use, pesticide handling, food safety, and worker health & hygiene.
- Maintain detailed records of all training conducted, including attendance, evaluations, and certifications.
- Support seasonal training campaigns and cross-training initiatives to increase workforce flexibility.
- Ensure all training materials meet OSHA, EPA, and USDA standards relevant to agricultural operations.
- Assist Farm Management in Oversight of Production and Harvest crews and ensure all H2A employees are operating within safety parameters.
- Ensure that each H2A Field Worker has been properly trained how to safely operate each piece of equipment,
wearing all required PPE daily.
- Support Farm Management with onsite investigations of accidents/incidents/violations involving H2A staff.
- Regularly inspect and implement quality control measures across all production departments.
**Position Requirements**
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Human Resources, Education, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years in training, workforce development, or safety/compliance roles in an agricultural setting.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal required).
- Strong knowledge and/or ability to learn agricultural processes, farm labor laws, and safety practices.
- Effective presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work in outdoor or field environments as needed for hands-on training.
- Comfortable with digital learning tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must demonstrate the ability to be a team player and build positive working relationships with others.
- Ability to be physically/consistently present for critical onsite collaboration.
- Ability to discern what issues need to be brought to upper management.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and perform well under pressure of deadlines.
- Must be highly motivated and efficient with the ability to work independently.
**Preferred Additional Credentials**
- OSHA ***** certification or similar agricultural safety credentials.
- Experience with migrant or seasonal worker training.
- Familiarity with H-2A compliance and labor regulations.
