Overview:
**Responsibilities**:
**The Americas Acetyl Chain & Acetate Tow (ACT/AT) Team Lead role is a position within the Americas Controller organization that will report directly to the CBS (AC/AT) Manager. **The Team Lead will work closely with other members of the Finance organization, especially members of the FP&A;, Corporate Tax, Corporate Accounting and Regional Shared Service teams. The Team Lead is responsible for managing the AC/AT general ledger department, which performs all the month end close steps associated with services, production, and selling entities. Additionally, this group supports the AC/AT Business and general joint venture accounting (e.g. Fairway, etc.).**
**Key Duties/**
**Responsibilities**
- Oversee and manage general US GAAP accounting function, including but not limited to: inventory, cash, intercompany, accruals, joint venture accounting, etc.
- Lead a team of up to 6 general ledger analysts that perform the month end close for all Acetyl Chain and Acetate Tow entities
- Primary accounting lead on any accounting issues encountered by plant controllers, FP&A;, customer experience, supply chain, etc.
- Review and approve recurring and non-recurring journal entries
- Review and approve monthly, quarterly and yearly SOX controls to ensure all entities and joint venture accounting comply with the company’s policies
- Review and approve monthly account reconciliations prepared by general ledger analysts
- Review and approve monthly balance sheet and income statement trend reports
- Identify and resolve potential issues that could impact month-end close deadlines
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
- Primary accounting lead on any audits and examinations from external or internal inquiries, including but not limited to governmental agencies,
external auditors, etc.
- Serve as liaison for others in the finance organization for ad hoc requests such as trade compliance audits, transfer price inquiries and governmental agencies filings
- Provide support to Manager on any other ad hoc analysis or special projects as requested
Qualifications:
**Knowledge and Experience**
- ** Minimum 5 years public or private accounting, required**:
- ** Inventory accounting experience, required**:
- ** Bilingual English/Spanish, required**:
- **GL accounting experience, strongly preferred**:
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting concepts, including cost accounting, inventory, VAT taxes, and foreign exchange
**Education and Certifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or related discipline, strongly preferred
- CPA or equivalent, strongly preferred
**Position-Specific Technical Requirements**
- Advanced Excel skills and use of SAP, or similar ERP systems
