We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Independent Contractor) to join our team on a contract basis, with the potential to transition into a full-time role.
This individual will play a crucial part in the development of our core digital product, which focuses on luxury hospitality reporting -- providing insights and performance metrics to some of the world's most prestigious hotels and resorts.
You'll collaborate closely with our Lead Developer, Product Team, and QA specialist to refine and expand our B2B Partner Site.
Our platform allows both internal and external users to manage and view performance data.
The system is built on Java-based back-end frameworks with server-side rendering technologies for the front-end.
Experience with Java and similar technologies is key.
This is an exciting opportunity to not only contribute to our stack but also suggest improvements and introduce new tools and workflows, particularly in areas such as unit testing and testing frameworks to enhance system stability.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with full stack development, particularly Java, SQL, Groovy/Grails.
- Strong knowledge of SQL (query creation, execution, and modification).
- Proficiency with front-end technologies, particularly GSP (Grails Server Pages) or JSP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS.
- Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
- Expertise in writing and maintaining Unit Tests and implementing dependency injection for efficient testing.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with integrating AI (e.g., OpenAI) or machine learning tools is a plus.
- Proven experience with system modernization, including breaking down monolithic architectures into microservices.




- Work with APIs and integrate third-party services where necessary.
- Experience with AWS management, particularly EC2 or Elastic Computing.
- Knowledge of Grails framework/GSP and/or Spring Boot.
- Previous experience with Salesforce integration and APIs.
Professional Requirements:
- Familiarity with JIRA and comfortable participating in MS Teams daily standups.
- Ability to work independently, while being open to suggesting improvements and introducing new tools to enhance workflows and system stability.
- Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills.
Position Details:
- This is a contract role with the potential for full-time conversion.
- Hourly compensation, with flexibility based on experience.
- Commitment to a 40-hour work week, with some overlap with EST hours for daily standups.
