Automation Engineer (PLC Allen-Bradley & Commissioning)

- Location: Houston, Texas.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Automation Engineer with deep expertise in Allen-Bradley PLC programming and hands-on commissioning experience. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and deploy automation solutions for industrial projects primarily located in the United States. The idóneo candidate will have a strong background in control systems, troubleshooting, and field startup.

Key Responsibilities

- PLC & HMI Programming: Design, develop, and modify PLC code (specifically Allen-Bradley: ControlLogix, CompactLogix) and HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk View, Ignition) following industry best practices.
- Commissioning & Startup: Lead on-site system integration, I/O checkouts, loop tuning, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) at customer facilities.
- Troubleshooting & Optimization: Diagnose electrical, hardware, and software issues during startup and normal operations to minimize downtime.
- Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and project management teams to ensure project deliverables meet technical specifications and deadlines.
- Documentation: Create and update functional descriptions,



electrical schematics, cause-and-effect diagrams, and as-built documentation.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all automation designs and on-site procedures comply with OSHA, NEC, and relevant safety standards (e.g., NFPA 79).

Qualifications & Requirements

- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience: Minimum of [3-5+] years of experience in industrial automation and control systems.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficient in Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley hardware and software (Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View ME/SE).
- Strong experience with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Modbus).
- Proven track record in field commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of complex automated machinery or process lines.
- Language: Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Spanish proficiency is a plus.
- Legal Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (e.g., US Citizen, Green Card, or eligible for TN Visa sponsorship if applicable).
