Purpose

The Systems Engineer builds, maintains, and troubleshoots Kelly's rapidly expanding infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud (Azure/AWS) environments. This is a blended systems and cloud role — the Systems Engineer is expected to be equally capable supporting core Windows/virtualization infrastructure and administering cloud platforms, rather than treating the two as separate disciplines. The candidate will be part of a team delivering mission-critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Manage cloud environments with a focus on Azure and AWS, providing support of production, staging, QA, and development infrastructure running in 24x7 environments.
- Support infrastructure migrations, including application/workload movements into Azure or AWS across the general enterprise environment.
- Maintain and manage Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 Suite, VMware vCenter/ESXi, and other enterprise applications.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Monitor and test application/infrastructure performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions,



and work with stakeholders to implement fixes.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower human intervention time on tasks.
- Participate in the design of information and operational support systems, including cloud adoption efforts.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support; nurture cloud computing expertise internally to drive cloud adoption.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.

Competencies (Behavioral and Technical Skill Requirements)

- Proven working experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Microsoft-based environments.
- Solid cloud experience, preferably in Azure and AWS, including support and migration skills.
- Strong understanding across cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications).
- Experience with virtualization utilizing VMware.
- Experience with monitoring systems.
- Solid PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
- Solid networking knowledge (OSI layers, TCP/IP).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to articulate the technical merits and value of cloud and systems solutions to stakeholders.

Education and/or Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field — or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years' experience in Windows/systems environments, including 2+ years supporting cloud (Azure/AWS) solutions.
- Relevant Azure or AWS certification preferred.
