Toshiba General Commerce Solutions is seeking a Product Line Manager to join the hardware infrastructure team in Guadalajara, Mexico.
This individual will be responsible for managing a line of product offerings that complement the Toshiba retail infrastructure portfolio.
We are seeking an experienced **Product Line Manager (PLM)** to lead the strategic direction, development, and lifecycle management of our **Operating System product lines** (including Linux, Android, and Windows-based solutions).
This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, customer empathy, and technical understanding to drive differentiated offerings across retail, embedded, and enterprise environments.
As the PLM, you will own the **end-to-end product strategy**, roadmap, and go-to-market alignment for a multi-OS portfolio that powers mission-critical devices such as Point-of-Sale (POS), Self-Checkout, and other embedded hardware
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Product Strategy & Roadmap**- Define and evolve the long-term vision, roadmap and release plans for the OS product line (Linux, Windows, Android), aligned with company and customer goals.
- Conduct competitive analysis, market research, and customer feedback loops to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation.
- Own the lifecycle management: GA planning, versioning (Major, Minor, Service Packs), EOL strategy, patch cadence and Upgrades.
- **Cross-functional Collaboration**- Partner with Engineering, Architecture, QA, and Program Management to deliver high-quality releases on time.
- Work closely with Sales, Solution Architects, and Marketing to ensure alignment of positioning, messaging, and enablement.




- Collaborate with OEM and silicon partners (e.g., Intel) to maintain hardware compatibility and performance optimization.
- **Customer & Partner Engagement**- Serve as the voice of the customer internally, translating business needs into product requirements.
- Lead customer-specific OS engagements, including roadmap alignment, feature requests, and migration plans.
- Support customer advisory boards, user group conferences, and strategic account briefings.
- **Financial Ownership**- Manage portfolio P&L; including licensing models, cost structures, and forecast planning.
- Prioritize investment areas based on ROI, adoption metrics, and long-term business value.
- **Product Metrics & KPIs**- Track product adoption, version penetration, and defect trends.
- Define KPIs for release velocity, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Present performance reports to executive leadership with clear insights and actionable recommendations, in monthly and quarterly portfolio reviews
**Qualifications**:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
- 8+ years in Product Management, with 3+ years specifically managing Operating Systems or system software.
- Deep understanding of embedded operating systems,



including Linux distributions, Android OS, and Windows IoT/Enterprise.
- Proven experience in delivering commercial OS products, ideally in retail, industrial, or edge computing verticals.
- Strong grasp of OS testing, security, telemetry, driver support, and firmware integration.
- Experience working with Yacto, AOSP, or other OS build systems.
- Pragmatic Marketing Framework experience desired
- Understanding of SAFe Agile methodology and software development lifecycle
- Strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and strategic business capabilities
Preferred:
- Knowledge of device management (MDM, DevOps pipelines, Git-based release workflows).
- Experience with partner certifications (e.g., GMS for Android, Windows WHQL).
Soft Skills:
- Strategic thinker with the ability to connect customer pain points to technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills — capable of influencing technical and non-technical stakeholders, in English and Spanish
- Ability to lead by influence across teams & siloes
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills; thrives in ambiguity and drives clarity.
- Strong interpersonal skills & ability to build strong, trusting relationships
- Comfortable presenting to executive audiences and representing the company externally.
