TCS is looking for a Database Migration Specialist Work modality: Hybrid

(Candidate needs to be located or relocate to Querétaro, CDMX, Guadalajara or Monterrey, it will be requested to attend office at least 3 day per week) Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Database Migration Specialist with strong expertise in AWS RDS PostgreSQL, Cloud Database Administration, and SQL Server Administration. The candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and executing database migration projects from on-premises environments to AWS RDS PostgreSQL while ensuring high availability, security, performance, and compliance. The role requires hands-on experience with database administration, backup and recovery, monitoring, access management, encryption, and migration of best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Database Migration & Modernization

Lead end-to-end database migration initiatives from On-Premises databases to AWS RDS PostgreSQL.

Assess existing database environments and develop migration strategies, runbooks, and execution plans.

Perform schema conversion, data migration, validation, and post-migration optimization.

Identify and mitigate migration risks while ensuring minimal downtime.

Support application teams during migration planning, testing, and production cutovers. AWS RDS PostgreSQL Administration

Administer and manage AWS RDS PostgreSQL environments.

Configure and maintain RDS instances, parameter groups, option groups, and storage settings.

Monitor database health, performance, and availability using AWS native monitoring tools.

Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource optimization. SQL Server Administration

Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server environments.

Monitor database performance and troubleshoot SQL Server issues.

Plan and execute SQL Server upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities.

Support migrations from SQL Server to PostgreSQL where applicable.

Configure and manage database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery processes.

Schedule and maintain database jobs and routine maintenance tasks.

Implement and support database replication, failover, and high-availability configurations.

Ensure database operational excellence through proactive monitoring and alert management. Monitoring & Support

Monitor AWS RDS and database infrastructure for performance, availability, and security events.

Troubleshoot complex database issues and provide root cause analysis.

Develop operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge transfer materials.

Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, application, and security teams.

Required Skills & Experience

Strong experience as a Cloud DBA.

Expertise in AWS RDS PostgreSQL Administration.

Hands-on experience migrating On-Premises Databases to AWS RDS PostgreSQL.

Strong SQL Server Administration experience.

AWS RDS monitoring and performance management.

Database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.

Database job scheduling and maintenance automation.

Database access control, authentication, and authorization management.

Database encryption and security implementation.

Performance tuning and troubleshooting for PostgreSQL and SQL Server.

Experience with AWS services related to database operations.
