The Purchasing supervisor is responsible for mentoring purchasing team members and ensure purchasing procedures are followed consistently. Developing and managing strategic supplier relationships while ensuring the procurement of materials, components, and services at the best total value for Commercial Vehicle Group (CVG). This role leads commercial negotiations, sourcing initiatives, supplier performance improvement, and cost reduction activities that directly impact company profitability.

Team Leadership

- Supervise and mentor purchasing team members.
- Delegate workload and monitor team performance.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Ensure purchasing procedures are followed consistently.

Procurement Management

- Source and qualify new suppliers.
- Obtain and evaluate competitive quotations.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and contracts.
- Award business based on cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance.

Supplier Relationship Management

- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Resolve supplier issues related to quality, delivery, pricing, and invoicing.
- Develop contingency plans for high‑risk suppliers.

Cost Management

- Identify and implement cost‑saving initiatives.
- Analyze price increases and negotiate reductions where possible.
- Track material cost trends, tariffs, freight, and surcharges.
- Support annual budgeting and cost reduction targets.

Compliance & Risk Management

- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies.
- Verify supplier compliance with contracts, PPAPs, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage import/export requirements, tariffs, Incoterms, and trade compliance when applicable.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.





Cross‑Functional Collaboration

- Engineering on new product introductions.
- Quality on supplier quality issues.
- Production and planning on material availability.
- Finance on invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
- Sales and customer service on customer‑specific requirements.

Reporting & Metrics

- Monitor purchasing KPIs.
- Monthly Copper reporting.
- Monthly increase reporting.
- Cost savings reporting.
- Buyer workload.
- Prepare reports for management.
- Improve purchasing processes and workflows.
- Standardize purchasing practices.

Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration,



Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.

Experience

- Minimum 5 years of purchasing, sourcing, or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the automotive, commercial vehicle, heavy equipment, or Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier industry is highly preferred.
- Proven experience negotiating high‑value commercial agreements with domestic and international suppliers.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or product launch activities.
- Experience with supplier development, strategic sourcing, and cost reduction projects.
- Experience managing direct materials procurement is preferred.

Language Requirements

- Advanced English (written and spoken) required.
- Ability to negotiate and conduct business meetings in English.

Preferred Qualifications

- APICS, CPSM, CSCP, CIPS, or ISM certification.
- Experience with supplier audits and supplier performance management.
- Experience supporting international sourcing and integral supply chains.
- Knowledge of automotive quality systems such as IATF 16949, APQP, and PPAP.
- Experience with low‑cost country sourcing and localization initiatives.
