The Product Compliance Staff Engineer will lead and manage global regulatory certification and market access activities for electronic products. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with international regulatory requirements across multiple regions, supporting product development, and enabling successful product launches.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in regulatory certification, environmental, product safety, energy efficiency, EMC, wireless, homologation, and integral market access, with strong experience coordinating with laboratories, certification bodies, and cross‑functional engineering teams. Hands‑on experience with NOM certification in Mexico and LATAM regulatory frameworks in general is essential.
Duties & Responsibilities
Regulatory Certification & Market Access
Lead end-to-end product certification processes (requirements definition, testing, certification, product launch).
Define and execute global certification strategies for electronic products across LATAM, North America, Europe, and Asia.
Ensure compliance with Environmental, Product safety, EMC, RF/wireless, and Labeling requirements.
Support certifications such as FCC, CE, UKCA,
CB Scheme, NOM, CRT, ANATEL, Subtel, Inmetro, and other international approvals.
Act as subject matter expert for Mexico NOM compliance and regulatory frameworks.
Support implementation of environmental compliance with Substance restrictions, Hazardous Substances, Responsible Sourcing, ESG reporting and Extended Producer Responsibility.
Laboratory & Certification Management
Coordinate with external laboratories and certification bodies (e.g., ANCE, NYCE, UL, TÜV, Intertek, Bureau Veritas).
Manage Lab Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Purchase Requisitions (PRs), Purchase Orders (Pos), timelines, and test execution.
Oversee test planning, sample readiness, and configuration validation prior to certification.
Review and approve test reports, certification documents, and regulatory filings.
Regulatory Intelligence & Compliance Strategy
Monitor and interpret changes in global regulations, standards, and certification requirements.
Translate regulatory updates into engineering and compliance requirements.
Provide regulatory guidance during product development to ensure compliance readiness.
Conduct risk assessments and proactively identify compliance gaps.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with engineering teams to integrate compliance into product design.
Interface with suppliers to ensure component and subsystem compliance.
Support program management teams to align certification timelines with product schedules.
Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and certification bodies.
Documentation & Compliance Lifecycle
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including:
Declarations of Conformity
Regulatory files and certification records
Labeling and marking requirements
Manage compliance lifecycle activities, including renewals, updates, and sustaining approvals.
Support audits and regulatory inspections.
Additional (Secondary Focus Areas)
Contribute to responsible sourcing and material compliance initiatives.
Assist with regulatory reporting obligations and compliance tracking systems.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Telecommunications or related technical field.
7–10+ years of experience in product compliance, regulatory engineering, or certification roles.
Experience in regulatory compliance within telecommunications, broadband/cable networks, optical networking (fiber), network equipment manufacturing, semiconductor/electronic components, or wireless infrastructure industries preferred, with exposure to global product regulations.
Proven experience managing global certification and compliance programs.
Hands‑on experience with: EMC, RF, and product safety compliance; NOM certification and Mexico regulatory requirements; Global market access processes.
