The role:
The Reach Stacker Operator is responsible for safely, efficiently, and reliably moving containers and cargo within terminal operations. This position operates heavy equipment to support loading, unloading, stacking,
and transportation activities while ensuring compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures. The role works closely with Operations, Dispatchers, Drivers, and Maintenance personnel to ensure the continuous flow of cargo and equipment availability.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the Reach Stacker to load, unload, transport, stack, and position containers and cargo within designated terminal areas.
- Perform daily pre‑operational and post‑operational equipment inspections, completing all required checklists and records.
- Coordinate container and cargo movements with planners, dispatchers and truck drivers to meet operational requirements.
- Comply with established operating procedures as well as company safety, environmental, and quality policies.
- Monitor equipment condition and promptly communicate maintenance needs, repair requirements, or safety concerns to supervisors and maintenance personnel.
- Support maintenance activities by providing feedback on equipment performance and assisting in troubleshooting efforts when required.
- Operate cranes or other material handling equipment when properly trained and certified.
- Maintain accurate records related to equipment inspections, operations, and cargo movements.
- Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency response activities as required.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and organized condition, contributing to terminal operational excellence.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned to support terminal operations.
What you bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating Reach Stacker equipment in terminals, ports, logistics centers, or industrial environments.
- Valid Reach Stacker Operator certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Additional certifications such as HAZMAT, crane operation, or other heavy equipment certifications are preferred.
- Knowledge of safe cargo handling practices, container stacking, and terminal operations.
- Ability to perform equipment inspections and identify mechanical or safety‑related conditions requiring attention.
- Strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic operational environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Availability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and meet the physical demands associated with heavy equipment operation.
