MUST HAVE SKILLS

· Agentic AI, LLM, and SLM Systems

o Understanding of agentic architectures (primarily hierarchical/multi-agent systems).

o Experience/awareness with a modern LLM stack, such as OpenAI or the Anthropic model APIs.

o Understanding of/experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and A2A (Agent-to-Agent protocol), and when each is ideally used.

o Experience with prompt engineering as discipline.

Software Engineering

· Proficiency with Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or Cursor.

· Strong proficiency in Java.

· Design skills in building large-scale distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architectures, and async processing.

· Experience building resilient, observable systems (logging, tracing, retries, agent debugging).

· Understanding of test strategies for non-deterministic systems (simulation, replay, eval harnesses).

· Execution mindset is outcome-oriented (did it achieve the expected outcome, not just did it deliver what was asked)

· Security mindset,



especially around prompt injection, tool misuse, and data leakage.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS

AI Engineering & Evaluation

· Understanding of model behavior, limitations, and failure modes.

· Ability to design system prompts, role prompts, and guardrails that scale across teams.

· Experience/awareness of when SLMs (Small Language models) are appropriate as opposed to LLMs (Large Language models)

· Familiarity with one or more major frameworks such as LangGraph/LangChain or CrewAI.

Product & System Thinking

· Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into agent-capable system designs.

· Understanding of how non-deterministic workflows influence:

o UX expectations

o Reliability models

o Error ownership

o Outcome

Technical Leadership

· Can review agent systems at a systems-thinking level, not just at the code level.
