Job Description Summary: The Aeroderivative Performance & Operability Engineering team is a critical pillar within the Aeroderivative Engineering organization, operating at the intersection of engineering, commercial, and digital domains. The team covers project execution and model development for aspects related to performance (thermodynamic cycle models) and operability (including emissions, fuel flexibility, and controls).
n
Roles and Responsibilities- Develop and Refine Operability Models: Manage the lifecycle for operability models, including emissions, fuel flexibility, and control aspects, ensuring models reflect operational realities.
n
- Test Plan Development & Field Support: Define and develop engineering test plans, supporting field tests to gather data that drives improvements in both performance and operability models.
- Field Data Integration & Model Validation: Analyze post-processed field data using data analysis techniques (e.g., data science, statistics, probabilities) to update and status-match models with real-world operational data.
- Fuel Flexibility Expertise: Evaluate the use of various fuels (e.g., hydrogen, biofuels) in power plants, determining necessary model adjustments to support fuel-versátil solutions.
- Process Improvement: Continuously refine team processes, implementing best practices and lessons learned to drive efficiency and innovation.
- Tool Development: Develop tools and templates using VBA, Python, NPSS,
or other utilities to streamline team operations and enhance problem-solving capabilities.Qualifications/Requirements- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Application Engineering.Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
- Min. 5 years of relevant modeling experiencesDesired Characteristics- Master's or PhD in engineering or equivalent fields.
- Significant experience in Aeroderivative performance modeling, particularly in data reduction, status matching, and NPSS cycle model development.
- Strong programming experience in NPSS, Python, and C.
- Deep understanding of gas turbine thermodynamics, controls, emissions, and operability.
- Familiarity with gas turbine performance testing including standards such as ASME PTC 22 or ISO *.
- Understanding of gas turbine combustion and emissions including creation of combustion transfer functions.
- Experience with fuel flexibility including high hydrogen and its impact on systems such as performance, emissions, operability, and controls.
- Proficiency in data analysis, data science, and probabilistic modeling.
- Ability to work effectively in globally distributed teams.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively to analyze and resolve complex problems.
