Canada BPA Sr. Analyst

As a Canada BPA Sr. Analyst supporting the Canada BPA Team, you will lead all Business Planning and Analysis activities for the Canadian market, supporting both the Surgical and Vision Care franchises. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and insightful analysis to drive business growth and ensure financial performance. It works closely with local business partners, regional leadership, and global teams to improve financial processes, ensure data-driven decision-making, and support strategic initiatives. Additionally, the role is accountable for managing and developing direct reports within the BPA team, fostering career progression, building capabilities, and optimizing resources to meet evolving business needs while driving a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual FP&A; cycles for Canada, including management reporting, variance analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Develop and maintain financial models and reporting tools to support business needs, improve transparency, and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
- Drive the budgeting and forecasting processes across both Surgical and Vision Care franchises,
ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with regional and integral guidelines.
- Lead the preparation of business reviews (Monthly Financial Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews), including generating insights, conducting variance analysis, framing strategic recommendations, and crafting compelling financial storytelling.
- Ensure ownership and disciplined use of ERP and Business Intelligence systems (e.g., SAP, ASPIRE, APMR, Tableau, Power BI), ensuring data integrity, process compliance, and reporting accuracy.
- Partner with Canadian business leaders to provide actionable financial analysis, challenge assumptions, and ensure financial targets are met.
- Serve as a key financial advisor to the Canadian commercial teams, providing insights on revenue performance, pricing, margins, and expense management.
- Consolidate inputs and build a consistent, compelling financial story for the Canadian market for internal and regional presentations.
- Collaborate with global and regional FP&A; teams to support ad-hoc financial analysis, business cases, and investment evaluations.
- Conduct scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decision-making and risk management.
- Oversee and manage headcount and personnel cost tracking for the Canadian market, working closely with HR and local leadership.
- Manage, coach, and mentor Sr. Analyst(s), fostering career progression, building capabilities,
providing performance feedback, and optimizing resource allocation within the BPA team.
- Proactively drive process improvements and transformation initiatives to optimize financial processes and enhance reporting efficiency.
- Educate and support non-finance stakeholders on financial literacy to promote better understanding of P&L; management and financial KPIs.
- Manage any audit, compliance, or governance requirements related to financial reporting for the Canadian market.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related analytical discipline.
- At least five (5) yrs. of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A;) roles.
- Exceptional analytical abilities, capable of using data tools to drive decision-making and managing large pools of data in Excel.
- In-depth knowledge of SAP & BI tools and practical experience analyzing data, program metrics, and performance.
- Demonstrates complex problem resolution proficiency and the ability to identify/implement process and system enhancements.
- Proactive communication style with the ability to build/foster relationships with business partners.
- Proven leadership, analytical, influencing, and problem-solving skills combined with the ability to identify risks and impacts and possible solutions and corrective actions.
- Excellent written and verbal English skills, along with quantitative, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
