Customs Compliance Specialist

n

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY The Customs Compliance Specialist ensures full customs, trade and tax compliance under the IMMEX Program and VAT Certification.

n

This role is critical to maintaining operational continuity, mitigating compliance risks, avoiding penalties, and supporting business growth within a highly regulated automotive manufacturing environment.

n

The position directly impacts audit readiness, inventory integrity, cost optimization, and the company's standing with Mexican authorities.

n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

n

Manage and maintain Annex ** in accordance with IMMEX and VAT Certification requirements.

n





Perform import and export reconciliation processes to ensure inventory accuracy.

n

Create, maintain, and audit electronic foreign trade files (Record Keeping)

n

Manage and monitor Rule 8 (Reglas octavas) import and export permits.

n

Oversee fixed asset imports and virtual fixed asset operations.

n

Review Non-Tariff Regulations and Restrictions (RNNAs) by tariff classification.

n

Validate and review tariff classifications in coordination with customs brokers and classification specialists.

n

Maintain and update master catalogs for materials and finished goods.

n

Perform material and product homologation by material groups.

n

Monitor and ensure compliance with VAT Certification requirements.

n

Prepare and submit official communications to Mexican authorities (SAT / Ministry of Economy / ANAM) including:

n

IMMEX program extensions

n

VAT Certification notices

n

Registration and maintenance of Power of Attorney (Encargos Conferidos)

n

Reconcile ERP inventory vs. Annex 24 balances.

n

Monitor overdue inventory and return deadlines.

n

Support and participate in internal, external, and government audits.

n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

n

Bachelor's degree in International Trade, International Business (LNI), International Relations (LRI)



or related fields education.

n

3–5 years of experience in customs compliance departments

n

Proven experience working under the IMMEX Program

n

Strong knowledge ofMexican Customs Law,General Foreign Trade Rules andVAT Certification

n

Hands-on experience managing Annex 24 and Annex 30 software

n

Knowledge and management of computer packages: Office (Excel, Word, etc.)

n

Communication skills at all levels

n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

n

Experience in U.S.-based or multinational corporations.

n

Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP).

n

Experience working with customs brokers and external foreign trade consultants.

n

Prior participation in SAT audits.

n

Trade compliance certifications or specialized training.

n

Strong project management and multitasking skills.
