About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer with accounting and financial experience.

n

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop,



and optimize high-impact systems that power Sezzle's financial reporting, reconciliation, and automation workflows.

n

You'll partner closely with cross-functional teams — including Accounting and Finance — to ensure data integrity, streamline financial processes, and build robust, auditable systems that meet enterprise-grade standards.

n

Your role will extend beyond development.

n

You'll mentor engineers, shape technical direction, and bring a strong sense of ownership to every project you lead.

n

You should be able to build high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software in compliance with coding standards, technical design, and regulatory best practices.

What You'll Do

n

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance and maintain software solutions for financial processes.

n

Participate fully in the software development lifecycle, from design through deployment.

n

Build new features and products as part of an integrated engineering team.

n

Leverage accounting background to identify gaps and improve automation and reconciliation workflows.

n

Evaluate and deploy software tools, processes, and metrics.

n

Provide support and consulting on software systems usage.

n

Ensure compliance with project plans and industry standards.

n

Design software applications and features in Golang.

n

Build reports and automations using Python and SQL.

n





Help build out a distributed architecture, creating solutions that work within it, maintaining consistency while scaling highly.

n

Coordinate with internal company stakeholders to design market-winning products.

n

Develop and collect metrics to drive continuous improvement of existing products.

n

Deliver high-quality, testable features that meet reporting and compliance standards.

n

Mentor other engineering teammates to help elevate their experience and knowledge.

n

What We Look For

n

At least 7 years of full-stack software engineering experience.

n

Experience bringing new ideas and building consensus on the path forward.

n

Experience with building and serving REST APIs using Go and Java Python or a similar language.

n

BS in Accounting, Computer Science or similar degree, or equivalent work experience.

n

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

n

Prior experience as an accountant or financial analyst.

n

Solid understanding of financial operations such as reconciliation, reporting, and compliance.

n

Experience in banking or financial institutions is a plus.

n

Proficient in multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go) and experience with database systems like MySQL or PostgreSQL.

n

Familiarity with software engineering tools, software development methodology, and release processes.

n

Comfortable using observability platforms like Prometheus, or vendor solutions like NewRelic or Datadog to instrument your code for production monitoring and alerting.

n

Familiarity with containerized micro-service architecture deployed with Kubernetes on AWS.

n

Demonstrated history of delivering commercial APIs and web applications.
