**What’s the role?**

Etsy’s Experiment Experience team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us build Etsy’s next generation experimentation platform. Our team is rethinking how product teams test and validate their work - a mission critical to every team at Etsy. We are looking for an opinionated front-end to full stack engineer to help us bring a seamless user experience to our cutting-edge data science.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager of Experimentation Experiences. We are a squad of passionate full-stack engineers with a wide range of experience across engineering, experimentation, and design systems. Our team’s goal is to bring Experimentation a new focus on user experience and front-end code quality.

We collaborate closely both with other engineers and analysts across Etsy, so stellar communication skills are a must! We primarily write in PHP, React/Preact, and MySQL - but work closely with company level infrastructure teams to find the best tool for the job while ensuring standardization and efficiency cross-team.

**What does the day-to-day look like?**
- You will collaborate directly with other engineers (both senior and junior), product managers, and designers to plan out and execute on new user-facing features.
- You will contribute to planning large pieces of company-critical infrastructure.
- You will help onboard and mentor new and less senior engineers. You will also have access to a wide network of peers and mentors to help you grow.
- You will present technical challenges and solutions to non-technical stakeholders and management.
- Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

**Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are**:





- You have full-stack experience, but your expertise is in writing modular front end components - ideally in React. We are looking for someone with opinions on how to architect clean front end code. Our team will set the front end guidelines for the rest of experimentation, and we need your help.
- You have experience with multiple front-end frameworks; we primarily use React/Preact, but alternate experience is great.
- You are excited to educate and mentor engineers.
- You have experience with component libraries and design systems.
- You can define and solve unconstrained problems, and know when to seek help with any roadblocks.
- You're comfortable collaborating closely with product managers and designers, providing estimates or product ideas that will influence your team’s roadmap.
- You have a “leave it better than you found it” mentality, and are willing to work with and improve on code written by others. You love to experiment and use data to drive decision-making.
- You are a mindful, transparent, and communicative member of your team.
