The Role



As a Designer, you will design heat tracing systems per customer specifications to successfully ensure customer satisfaction and profitability. Identify heat tracing requirements from customers' drawings, specifications, instructions, and Thermon quotations. Prepare heat tracing isometrics, panelboard schedules, cable schedules, instrument schedules, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and location plans. Use Thermon design software (CompuTrace, VisiTrace, TSDS) and established guidelines and procedures to design heat tracing systems.



The Designer will report to the Director, Engineering located in Calgary, Canada, will work close with Engineering, Sales, Operations and Project Management Team in Mexico and USA promoting positive culture,

collaboration, and high-performance work environment though progressive Engineering practices.



You will be based out of Pedro Valdez No. 8. Col Guadalupe Inn 01020, Mexico City. Distrito Federal, Mexico.



What You Will Do



- Prepare heat tracing isometrics, panel board schedules, cable schedules, instrument schedules, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and location plans, using AutoCAD and MicroStation as required

- Responsible to design heat tracing systems in accordance with customer specifications to successfully ensure customer satisfaction and profitability

- Responsible for the review of all project specifications and documentation necessary to develop a thorough understanding of the scope of work.

- Responsible for following project requirements, along with expectations on quality, schedule or other restrictions of technical nature

- Responsible for following established process and procedure including Project Design guide, Project Execution Guide, Quality Plan and provide input where deficiencies occur

- Responsible for maintaining the Project Design folder structure

- Provides input in the development of Global and Regional tools and procedures as required

- Others activities as assigned by Management.



To be successful in this role you will possess



- Is technically proficient/accomplished in heat tracing design, as well as has an appropriate technical knowledge of Piping & Insulation Systems, Electricity, and P&IDs;, governing Codes

- Is technically proficient in drafting drawings in AutoCAD and MicroStation

- Generates new ideas, challenges the status quo, takes risks, supports change, encourages innovation and solves problems creatively

- Communicates effectively both verbally and written, to team members, supervisor, and internal/external customers

- Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines with minimal direction.

- Confident, self-assured and able to master Time Management skill.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

- Understanding of and commitment to client service

- Comfortable with taking charge and dealing with ambiguity to achieve successful outcomes

- Strong team building and communication skills and the proven ability to influence change.

- Experience working in a High Performing engineering organization and able to provide insight, feedback and commitment.

- Decisive, thorough and timely when drawing conclusions and managing expectations.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.



Knowledge and Experience:



- Bachelor's Degree of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred.

- Minimum 3 years heat tracing design experience is required.

- Previous work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented and deadline driven work environment is a plus.

- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

- Experience working with Design software required, CompuTrace, Visi Trace, TSDS or required.

- Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
