Network Engineer Mexico City - All Levels Rackspace is seeking Network Engineers that has a passion for technology and is ready to join our Global Automation Team in Mexico City! Position Summary A Network Engineer is responsible for network monitoring of hardware failures and configuration issues.



In this role, you will provide initial acknowledgements, investigations and resolutions on network events.



Responsibilities



- Monitors tickets, responses and resolutions.

- Gathers and analyzes bandwidth graphs.

- Documents scheduled maintenances into the designated tool.

- Documents all network topologies, equipment, connectivity, etc.

- Opens service requests to vendors for hardware or software problems.



- Works with Service Providers for proper handling of outages, maintenances, or any other problems.

- Communicates to customers via tickets, emails, phone calls, etc. Insures alerts are detected, acknowledged, and resolved in a timely manner.

- Documents planned and unplanned network events and network changes in relevant tools.

- Follows change processes for unique, complex or critical changes.

- Follows escalation and incident processes for customer outages.

- Assists team in daily operations and requests.

- Participates in on-call support per team design.

- Responsible for the planning, design, configuration, integration & installation of our growing local area network (LAN) and / or global wide area network (WAN). .

- Create network rack elevation designs to support core network hardware components.

- Create network rack patch-panel designs to support copper and fiber cabling.

- Create network device naming schemes . Create IP scheme for network components.

- Order and / or track the acquisition of equipment .

- Work with datacenter onsite resources to action hardware and cabling deployments .

- Update internal documentation with designs and publish for consumption .

- Update internal tools for deployed hardware, VLAN’s, IP’s and DNS.

- Install software configurations against hardware components .

- Prepare maintenance plan documentation & change management

- Handle script maintenance implementations.

- Work in either a lead role or assisting role during maintenance implementations.

- Develop Standard Operating Procedure’s (SOP’s) & Method of Procedure’s (MOP’s) .

- Develop network standardization practices .

- Document informational content for specialized network designs to be used for training needs.

- Participate in Root Cause Analysis sessions to achieve better networking practices .



Qualifications



- General aptitude of TCP / IP, OSI topology and switching technologies.

- General aptitude of routing, firewall, and wireless technologies.

- General knowledge of servers and various network services.

- Ability to determine and resolve basic and common network issues.

- Experience with network trouble shooting tools such as ping and traceroute.

- Experience with network technologies such as wired / wireless networking.

- Experience researching, evaluating and recommending hardware and / or software solutions supporting large scale deployments and / or remediation’s against the LAN / WAN .

- Experience working with 3rd party networking vendors with an understanding of the service / hardware / software portfolios they provide .

- Able to identify areas of process improvement and provide input and solution options to streamline work .

- Excellent writing, documentation and communication skills possessing the ability to communicate well with technical and non-technical peers .

- Customer service oriented attitude .

- Experience working in service provider, datacenter / hosting environment or large scale enterprise networks .

- Expert level experience working with some of the following technologies : HSRP, VLAN, CDP, port- channels, MPLS, BGP, LDP, QoS, IPv6, OSPF, vPC, STP, DWDM, EVPN, L2VPN, L3VPN .

- Multi-vendor experience working with the following platforms : Cisco IOS, ASR 1k (IOS-XE), ASR 9k (IOS-XR), Nexus 7k / 9k / 3k (NX-OS), BTI, Arista (EOS) .

- Experience with network service monitoring systems (Arbor, Zenoss, Syslog, SolarWinds, WhatsUp Gold, etc )



Requirements



- High School diploma or equivalent required

- University or College degree in Computer Science or Network Engineering fields is preferred

- 3 years Network Engineering experience required

- Experience within network design and build-out of LAN / WAN’s and / or large scale network retrofits and remediation’s is required

- Preferred Industry recognized certifications in networking : CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE (R&S;, SP or DC)

- Work from home mode
