Job Description

Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment. Participates in the training, developing and evaluating of hourly team members. Participates in the development of highly effective teams. Leads Global Manufacturing Systems(GMS) processes and serves as resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas. Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements. Maintains awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues. Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, union and management.

Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union. Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues. Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods. Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training). Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements. Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.

To develop, execute and delivery Mfg/Administrative Services activities to support manufacturing plants in a remote way in order to improve the process in terms of productivity and reliability. Keeping good relationships with the customers as well as cost reduction associated to the initiatives implemented based on GMS principles which will be the main driver for this position.

I.Position Tasks and Responsibilities

GBS Mfg. Services Engineer will be in charge of:

- Implement the Mfg. Admin. Services activities on time based Tool gates methodology and GMS principles.

- Execute activities on time to deliver quality service to the customers.

- Manage an area of responsibility as champion of BPD.

- Promote teamwork in the group and keep open communication.

- Support development of direct reports.

- Promote the Continuous improvement in all the activities or process to be developed.

- Implement and Standardize work procedures.

- Identify new areas of opportunity to provide GBS Mfg. Services based on the core business.

- Ensure compliance with internal controls requirements.

- Lead Transforming Process.

- Keep Continuous communication with clients.

- Knowledge:

GMS; Productivity techniques; MS Office computer systems; TPM; Maximo Software; Manufacturing and Assembly processes; GM specialized Software

Intermediate -High English Level

Total Improvement Process, Problem Solving Technics

- Skills:

- Very good written and verbal communication skills.

- High computer skills with knowledge of MS Office.

- Comfort working with different cultures team members. ( Manage of Diversity )

- Builds relationships and develop others.

- Technical & Professional expertise in manufacturing process areas.

- Fast response to the issues and problem solving capability.

- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

- Experience / Education:

BS in Industrial ; Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Eng. / Business Administration or GM equivalent experience

Proficient on oral and written English. Desired Portuguese

1~ 2 year of experience in similar functions as Engineer or Equivalent in Manufacturing engineering; Maintenance; Mfg. Engineering; Materials Handling Prior Business planning and Plant/Operations Experience

- Recommended previous GM jobs:

Industrial Engineering; Process Mfg. Engineer; Production, Quality, IT or Maintenance Group Leader.

Competences: Problem Solving, Innovation, Technical Skills, Build Effective teams. Dealing with ambiguity, Learning on the Fly, strategic ability.
