Position Summary:

The Program Manager ensures that the program’s projects and activities are properly organized, reported on and tracked in order to deliver the program goals over the whole lifecycle. Improving the methods and tools of the program department.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Implement and maintain a program charter. 

Define program core team and communication plan. 

Define program scope, top-level schedule, and deliverables. 

Define program budget necessary to deliver objectives and controlling process.

- Ensure the execution of gate reviews and regular reviews with the program board.

- Ensure visibility of progress, issues and forecast outcomes to senior leadership.

- Monitor the emerging business case versus the business case objectives of the agreed baseline. Initiate mitigation actions for deviation.

- Ensure the communication within the program organization.

- Manage the interface with the internal or external customer for program specific topics.

- Manage risks at program level and ensure appropriate risk management on commercial, projects and in-service level.

- Manage internal and external program stakeholders.

- Deliver the agreed baseline of the business case or better.

- Ensure compliance with Sensata policies and the industry, e.g. ITAR compliance, AS9100.

- Perform other duties on behalf of Aerospace GM.

Job Requirements:

A successful candidate must have/be:

- Bachelor’s degree in related filed

- At least 5 years relevant experience in the aerospace segment

- Strong background on project management methodology

- Strong relationship and leadership skills along with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment

- Self motivated with problem solving and decision making skills

- Well organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Sensata Technologies is currently seeking a Program/Project Manager (PM) to lead teams in new product development from concept to production, lead change management projects, and lead cost reduction initiatives. This individual will be an integral member of our rapidly growing HVOR group. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to execute business plans and strategies through effective planning, strategy development, and operational tactics. The company is looking for a strong business / program management professional ideally with an engineering background and a demonstrated track record for program execution, operations management, customer management, and profit improvement. The Program/Project Manager must be an effective leader of cross-functional, global teams. Additionally, this individual must be able to effectively leverage global teams to drive execution to the committed goals.

The Program/Project Manager (PM) will lead a cross-functional project team establishing a detailed project plan, project goals, and actions/initiatives, and driving the necessary changes to ensure achievement of financial and non-financial metrics. The PM will also connect the Sensata manufacturing team to launch new products flawlessly. The candidate must be able to guide their team to make decisions that shape the success of highly visible projects. The position offers a great opportunity to work with global teams and to travel globally in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Success in this position requires good organizational savvy and good team-building and influencing skills with internal teams and external teams. This position requires keen negotiating with internal and external teams to develop a win-win situation for the business and customers. The candidate will also need to exercise good judgment. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to work effectively with all levels within the organization, suppliers, and customers. The PM is results oriented, and has the ability to influence others, a strong technical understanding of Sensata’s products, a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and the motivation and ability to independently reach across geographical and cultural boundaries to solve problems. This role requires someone who is eager to excel in a fast paced environment working on highly complex projects.

Specific Program/Project Manager responsibilities:

- Lead new product development (NPD) teams from concept to production

- Establish NPD program scope, schedule, commercial situation, and risks

- Summarize NPD financial business case including cash flow analysis, revenue roadmap, capital planning, resources required, and cost reduction roadmap to finalize project plan for NPD programs

- Develop margin roadmaps for NPD programs and take aggressive actions on any deviations from financial plan to achieve result needed

- Manage and ensure discipline with the NPD and Change Management processes, tools, metrics, and schedule to achieve committed business case

- Drive continuous improvement of the Sensata NPD process

- Lead cross-functional team during a critical customer issue

- Lead Change Management (CM) projects for design, supplier, or manufacturing changes

- Plan needed production capacity and ensure equipment / tooling strategy is in place; ensure supplier capacity is also in place

- Plan and lead cost reduction projects to achieve financial goals

- Develop Product Life Cycle Management objectives and execute project plans to achieve desired results

Minimum requirements include:

- BS in Engineering (preferred) or Business Management

- 5 or more years of experience in Program or Project management

- Significant experience leading new product development teams

- Experience with developing and executing program plans including scope, schedule, commercial impact, manufacturing strategy, and quality commitment

- Working knowledge of basic finance (e.g. income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) and business case assessment through discounted cash flow analysis

- Experience managing financial performance including gross margin roadmaps, cash flow analyses, resource planning, and capital planning for launch programs

- Ability to drive a financial plan and gross margin roadmap, and gain buy in from stakeholders and team members to achieve it

- Ability to perform reconciliation analyses of the financial plan and drive corrective actions

- Understanding of capacity analysis, run-at-rate needs, and equipment planning for a product launch

- Experience working with demanding customers and leading teams during critical customer issues

- Experience interfacing with customers to capture requirements, set appropriate expectations, and resolve any issues that might arise over the course of a program

- Experience leading global teams in a cross-functional, multi-site environment

- Proficiency with MS Office (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

- Strong ability to analyze data and understand trends

- Strong negotiation skills

- High energy level with an unfailing commitment to success

- Detail oriented with a process mindset to improve execution of business processes

- Experience accurately scoping out the length and difficulty of tasks

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Effectively communicate to Senior VP and VP levels of management

- 10% travel is required (domestic and international)

Preferred requirements include:

- MBA or MS degree

- Experience with heavy vehicle / off-road industry

- Project Management (PMP) training and Accreditation

- Six Sigma training and understanding

- Lean training and understanding

- Familiarity with ISO9001, TS16949 quality system requirements

- Understanding of AIAG core tools

- Experience with common tools and systems: APQP, PPAP, 8D, Run at Rate, Launch Controls, Risk Assessments, FMEA, Control Plan

- This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a "U.S. person" as defined in the ITAR and EAR. In order to be a U.S. person for ITAR and EAR purposes, you must: (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident (i.e., "green card holder") of the United States; or (iii) have been admitted to the United States as a refugee, or have been granted asylum, provided that you have applied for naturalization within six months of the date you first became eligible, and if not yet accepted, you are actively pursuing naturalization after two years from the date of your application.
