The Sustaining engineer is responsible for maintaining the level of performance of products manufactured in the Nogales facility and/or in facilities around the world once the products have been properly transferred into production. Is responsible of the integrity of information contained in the Bill of materials for those products that have been transferred. Responsible for applying knowledge of engineering principles and practices in electrical design development projects that have significant impact to larger defined projects.
Additional responsibilities, under supervision, include evaluating, generating, and completing projects related to products improvement and cost reductions (Productivity). The Sustaining Engineer is also responsible for VA/VE analysis, and supporting and guiding engineers of less experience in their day to day activities. The ability to resolve and implement corrective action steps when technical problems occur is necessary. Additionally this position requires the engineer to interact and contribute within a cross functional team environment. A Sustaining Engineer is expected to be able to travel to facilities throughout the world as needed.
1. Solves products problems related to their design
2. Evaluates, generates, and lead projects for product improvement and cost reductions.
3. Participates and contributes on VA/VE analysis.
4. Designs, performs worst case analysis and debugs analog, and digital sections of a product design.
5. Writes and debugs microcontroller code used in the product design. Includes test code needed to confirm the correct operation of the code.
6. Create circuit schematics and printed circuit board layout for production using CAD and custom design rules, and performs circuit simulation.
7. Evaluates new or alternate suppliers or parts.
8. Provides technical floor support as required.
9. Monitors adherence to all established safety rules and regulations as stated in Division/Corporate policy.
