Responsible for the preparation of the financial statements for the LAC GLAC
Countries ensuring adherence with Local and US GAAP laws, financial internal
controls and financial stewardship. Assist with the analysis of internal and
external financial results, foreign currency analysis between local currency
and US dollars for different countries. Responsible for accounting of Latin-
American entities on different locations and responsible for the coordination
and preparation of all federal and local tax filings, the transfer pricing
calculations and reports, the adherence to all distributed accounting policies
and Anti-bribery (FCPA) controls related to the Financial Accounting Close.
Follow process improvements and work collaboratively with management, various
stakeholders such as Accounts Payable, Compliance, Legal, Business and others.
Key Result Areas:
-Responsible for the financial statement preparation both under US GAAP and Local GAAP including the preparation of journal entries, accruals, prepaids, deferrals and balance sheet reconciliations
-Ensure transactions are captured, recorded, summarized and reported in compliance with policies and procedures, US GAAP, IFRS, as well as statutory, corporate and tax requirements (as applicable)
-Responsible for the fixed assets of Latin-American countries) along with the related depreciation/amortization and reporting schedules for both financial and tax records
-Ensure filing of timely and accurate local statutory financial statements ensuring compliance with local GAAPs. Ensure consistent treatment in line with Global policies,This includes knowledge and reconciliation of US to Local GAAP differences
-Ensures compliance with existing and new accounting policies for both US GAAP and local GAAP including specific materiality thresholds used in the region
-Responsible for the FCPA and SOX controls for the financial accounting close
-Responsible for the transfer pricing calculations
-Participation in special projects
-Handle ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Management
-Responsible of coordinate external audits
Key Performance Indicators:
-Meet accounting deadlines for monthly, quarterly and annual financial close. Quality of accounting records – compliant with corporate policies, GAAP, SEC and SOX. Accurate accounting of transactions – leading to minimum accounting adjustments/errors and no repeat-audit points, Unusual items are properly identified, surfaced and resolved promptly
-Timely provision of reports by agreed timelines
-Ability to define/solve end-to-end problems and issues; timely and accurate processing of data/information through the systems
-Receive minimal observations and non-material adjustments from internal and external auditors
-Deliver on time sufficient information to Deloitte outsourcing for statutory accounting
-Compliance with statutory requirements
-Good understanding of process work flow so as to define/solve problems and issues
-Excellent project management skills to drive various projects to completion with minimal supervision
Decision Making:
-Make decisions on appropriate accounting treatment for transactions in compliance with published policies and guidelines
-Interprets a range of policies & procedures and develops regional procedures, standards, processes to assess, report, and remediate operations risk and compliance-related issues
-Prioritize tasks within job function balancing the need to meet tight deadlines and other corporate demands
-Initiate and implement process changes within assigned function to improve work productivity or quality of work output
-Exercise good judge to escalate issues to Supervisor
-Interacts with global, regional and in-country Controllership, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Finance teams
-Collaborates with regional function leaders (, Business Development, Acceptance, Product, Marketing, Finance and Corporate Services)
-Support the monitoring and review of Compliance to statutory and accounting regulations of multiple countries in LAC
-Degree in Accounting or ACCA or equivalent
-Minimum 7 years relevant accounting experience in a multi-national publicly traded company
-Knowledge of US GAAP
-Understanding of accounting controls and tax issues as applicable to local standards as well as under US GAAP
-Experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm is preferred
-Knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS and local accounting and tax requirements
-Strong customer service skills
-Must project credibility and integrity
-Works well under pressure
-Takes initiative; self-motivator
-Good business English, both oral and written
-Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a matrix management structure in a complex and diverse, international and multi-cultural environment
Complexity in accounting due to multi-dimensional financial reporting
requirements – data may need to be analyzed by cost center, account, product,
country, projects, and services as well in various currencies. In addition,
accounting records need to comply with US GAAP and local statutory financial
and tax laws, and need to consider impact of tax issues in each country. The
financial reporting systems are highly integrated with statistical and
