Conducts analysis and review of new and existing products through all phases of product life cycle (conception to completion). Determines quantity considerations for early production runs and is responsible for the evaluation of rejected incoming parts, permanent change orders, and requests for engineering help.
1. Reviews design engineering analysis, qualifications test failures and final reports, detail and assembly drawings and release products after productivity has been determined by industrial engineers; specifies performance specifications.
2. Monitors parts standardization and/or unusual manufacturing practices utilized to make specific parts.
3. Maintains a log book on accumulated data and test conditions and methods; prepares graphs detailing data and reports failures and/or out-of-specification parameters recommending corrective action schedule.
4. Troubleshoots on production floor as required.
5. Determines disposition of rejected incoming materials and evaluates information included in “Request for Engineering Help” forms.
6. Authorizes deviation of parts or procedures in product manufacturing and coordinates implementation dates for Permanent Change Orders (PCO).
7. Assists manufacturing specialists and reviews tolerance and sequence changes in manufacturing operations.
