Job Summary
In the role of IT Sr. Analyst 2, Service Monitoring and Automation you will work as a member of AT&T Entertainment Group Application Services Monitoring team. Application Service Monitoring is a team of professionals dedicated to improve services, applications and infrastructure availability by providing proactive monitoring and alerting for all components of the application stack (HW, Networking, OS, Middleware, Databases, End-Points, Applications and Business services by minimizing MTTR with tools and data that help during troubleshooting process and root cause detection, by providing automatic remediation and integration with run book automation, by supporting Security with infrastructure, tools and data to help with proactive threat detection and analytics, by extending capabilities of Capacity Planning providing performance data for infrastructure components, middleware and business applications, by supporting compute ready and cloud initiatives with dynamic and fully automatic deployment of monitoring solutions in private and public clouds.
We have a great suite of tools to be successful in the role including the latest technologies in end-to-end performance analysis of applications. The tools set we employed includes HP BSM, HP SiteScope, HP RUM, HP BPM, HP Operations Manager, HP NNMi, HP Virtual Performance Viewer, HP uCMDB, Splunk, AppDynamics, Aternity, TeaLeaf. We also develop some visualization and integrations in hose.
In this role you will be working with internal Networking, Infrastructure, Incident Management, Problem Management, Application support, DBAs, Infrastructure Design, and many other teams providing them with metrics, support troubleshooting effort, designing new monitoring solutions and integration points, develop easy to use data visualizations and dashboards, and providing knowledge transfer and internal training.
The Application Services Monitoring team operates on a 24x7x365 basis; on-call/off-hour may be required.
Essential Duties:
Support and Manage HP monitoring tools: OML, OMW, OMi, BSM, BPM, RUM, uCMDB, SiteScope, NNMi and vPV
Support and Manage Splunk infrastructure
Manage AppDynamics environment
Designing, implementing, and maintaining monitoring policies
Troubleshoot to resolves incidents related to Monitoring tools
Support installs and configurations of Monitoring software products
Deploying, configuring, operationally maintaining and scaling HP Monitoring tools, Splunk, AppDynamics and Aternity for large environment, business critical applications
Mentor peers in the use, administration, and customization of Monitoring team tools and applications
Customize and extend Monitoring solutions based on business requirements
Debug low level operating system, networking, and application problems including Linux (RedHat) and Windows operating systems
Develop Python scripts, Shell scripts, Perl scripts, Visual Basic scripts, PHP scripts and batch scripts for monitoring needs and automations
Develop custom applications using HP and Splunk APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and industry standard programming languages to meet business needs
Troubleshoot and critical problem resolution
Initiate and maintain service desk tickets to include receiving or identifying incident/problem, track process, find resolution, make necessary correction to the incident/problem area, and close ticket
Support the ITIL model for best practices of IT processes
Create reports for metrics of system incidents, problems, and requests for all Monitoring products and distribute to appropriate members
Proactively monitor the performance and availability of key business components in production environments
Open and follow up on vendor product support tickets and enhancement requests
Troubleshoot hardware and software incidents both locally, and remotely
