Role Summary/Purpose: The Environmental Health & Safety Leader will drive
overall Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) awareness and ensure compliance to
regulatory requirements. This includes maintaining and tracking internal
metrics associated with plant safety programs, drive awareness and lead
environmental and industrial hygiene initiatives in support of business wide
injury reductions, and assist in new employee onboarding and strategies
associated with a facility start-up.
Essential Responsibilities: The EHS Leader will demonstrate leadership in
communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business
segment. In this role, you will utilize experience or expertise to solve
problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the
ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
· Develop new Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs as required
· Lead the validation of health, safety and environmental Frameworks to ensure
100% compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
· Drive improvements in site EHS culture, awareness, and accountability
· Lead efforts to operationalize EHS at site
· Ensure site personnel understand and comply with all environmental permits
· Plan and conduct EHS training
· Oversee compliance assurance program, perform site audits, and lead efforts
with management team to implement corrective actions
· Conduct incident / accident investigations and develop corrective and
preventative action plans
· Maintain EHS expertise to provide technical and regulatory support to
Operations team
· Maintain site EHS metrics and work cooperatively with EHS HQ on various
projects and initiatives, including GHG reduction, sustainability, and culture
· Complete Six Sigma projects to reduce defects and cost
· Act as primary liaison with regulatory agencies concerning all EHS issues
· Understand regulatory changes and trends and forecast site impacts
· Actively contribute to the direction and content of site EHS programs
In addition, you will:
– Maintain site-specific EHS program(s) and plans in accordance with state
and federal regulations and company expectations
– Manage compliance tracking programs (Gensuite) and record keeping systems
– Provide technical guidance, assist in development of work instructions and
site policy; ensure effective education programs are in place
– Track and analyze data to assess environment, health and safety challenges,
and develop action plans
– Perform site audits and lead efforts with management to implement
corrective actions
– Be responsible for Incident investigation, corrective action
implementation, contractor / vendor EHS evaluation and approval
– Develop routine regulatory reports required by the various environmental
permits, conduct required activities to maintain the permits and file
reapplications necessary to meet business needs
– Provide leadership to site staff, employees and EHS committees – lead
diverse teams of hourly and management employees to integrate safety into all
aspects of daily work
– Plan and conduct EHS training for employees contractors and visitors, lead
EHS orientation for all new hires
– Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
– Minimum 2 years of related EHS experience within in heavy equipment
industry or manufacturing
– Bi-lingual, ability to speak both Spanish and English

– Experience with state/federal agency interaction and laws regarding
employment safety and environmental regulations
– Strong oral and written communication skills
– Advanced computer skills, primarily with MS Office software programs, ,
Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and able to navigate internet and intranet
– Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, ability to influence
across levels including Senior Management
– Six Sigma Greenbelt certification or Equivalent Quality certification
– Experience in heavy equipment manufacturing or repair, knowledge of safety
processes associated with crane, heavy lifting, paint/respirator processes
